Abstract

This study’s objective is to describe the needs experienced by young males, who are
about to become or have just become fathers, and have adolescent mates. The purpose is to facilitate the implementation of an educative support program for young fathers.
The young males who were interviewed strongly feel the need of getting together
with others who are in similar situation, because they want to learn, share experiences, relieve their feelings, and show their concern for their mate and child. However, there are few instances of this type, and it is difficult to reach them in order to get them together to discuss the topics they are interested in. On this basis, it can be said there is a need for the design of new strategies to get close to these young fathers that are better tailored to their needs
