Publication Policies

Peer review process

REVISTA DE URBANISMO has a peer review process for submission of manuscripts as follows:

1. All manuscripts must be submitted online by using the OJS system at http://www.revistaurbanismo.uchile.cl/index.php/RU/login. Once received, the manuscript will be reviewed by the editors to verify its alignment with the scope of the journal, and its compliance with formal requirements. Also, the article will be submitted to an anti-plagiarism review with Turnitin, to verify its originality. The results will be communicated to the authors by email. 
2. If all requirements are met, the article will be sent to two referees from the Reviewers Board, applying the double blind peer review system. The usual timeframe for reviews is four weeks.
3. The review process considers both content and formal criteria through an online assessment form. The referees will determine if the article is i) Publishable without corrections, ii) Publishable with minor corrections, iii) Publishable with major corrections, or iv) Rejected, unpublishable. The peer review result will be informed to authors by email, and it is unappealable.
4. In case of discrepancy between the two referees, the article will be send to a third reviewer, whose decision will determine the final result.
5. Authors whose manuscripts have been rejected will be notified by email, along with the referees' comments and review.
6. In the event that the article is publishable with corrections, the author must send the corrected version of the article for a new review, within the established timeframe.
7. Once an article has been approved for publication, it will be subject to proofreading. REVISTA DE URBANISMO reserves the right to edit the texts.
8. The authors that send a manuscript to REVISTA DE URBANISMO must subscribe and know the copyright conditions.

9. The final publication of the article is the exclusive and unappealable competence of the Journal Editor.

The whole peer review process of an article sent to REVISTA DE URBANISMO, takes between 4 and 24 weeks.

Open access system

REVISTA DE URBANISMO is an open access journal, which gives readers free and immediate content of its publication, supporting the idea that the free research provided to public audience, allows a wider global exchange of knowledge.

REVISTA DE URBANISMO is Gold Open Access.

In this sense, REVISTA DE URBANISMO neither charges for accessing published articles, nor charges authors for receiving and publishing articles.

Disclaimer

The opinions and contents of the published documents (manuscripts) are the exclusive responsibility of their authors and do not necessarily compromise the REVISTA DE URBANISMO point of view.

Once the articles are received, editors and reviewers are free to suggest partial modifications of their content without affecting the meaning of the author's arguments. After the acceptance of the articles to be published, REVISTA DE URBANISMO is free to reproduce the contents for dissemination purposes, duly notifying the authors.
