PERCEPTIONS TOWARDS MOTHERHOOD AND YOUTH TRANSITION WITHIN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF AN EDUCATION PROGRAM IN CABA, ARGENTINA

Abstract

The next pages will analyze the meanings given to motherhood and youth transition in the implementation of a socio-educational program in Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires. Likewise, it is examined the extent of the influence of the contemporary feminist agenda on male and female educators who accompany young people in the program. As part of this exploration, it was possible to recognize the coexistence of multiple messages about gender norms and admissible and inadmissible ways of passing through youth and motherhood experiences. During the development of the program, it was possible to identify tensions present in the interactions between their different aspects. While the official program guidelines were re-configured according to the Sexual and (non) Reproductive Rights agenda, male and female educators who accompany young people in the program have shaped their profiles based on their own life trajectories and on the moral and affective dimensions of school. As a result, control and regulation mechanisms coexist with care practices in the pedagogical accompaniment strategies for young female people.
